Without effective antibiotics many routine treatments will become increasingly dangerous. Setting broken bones, basic operations, transplants, even chemotherapy all rely on access to antibiotics that work. To slow resistance we need to cut the use of unnecessary antibiotics.
This is why NHS Solihull CCG has been working closely with our GP practices to safeguard these vital medicines for the future, as overuse means they are losing their effectiveness at an increasing rate.
The ‘Keep Antibiotics Working’ campaign urges people in Solihull to always trust their doctor, nurse or pharmacists advice as to when they need antibiotics, and, if they are prescribed, to take antibiotics as directed and never save them for later use or share them with others. The campaign also provides effective self-care advice to help individuals and their families feel better if they are not prescribed antibiotics.
