The health of our borough

GPs in Solihull understand the issues that affect health in our borough. We see thousands of patients a week who tell us what helps or hinders their adoption of a healthy lifestyle. They tell us their experience of local services – good and bad. They also tell us what changes they want to see in how they receive care and support.

Covering the entire borough, we are best placed to work with partners to make improvements for everybody. We are acutely aware of the issues that exist in different parts of Solihull and nothing puts this into a sharper focus than the 11-year age expectancy gap between men in the north and south of Solihull. GPs, the Council, the local hospital and charities are united in their view this is unacceptable.

Success for Solihull CCG will be about the people of Smiths Wood having the same opportunity for a happier, healthier life as those from St Alphege; or that a grandmother can move into the later stages of her life without the fear of getting old; that when anyone needs help, it is safe and of the highest quality, designed around their needs and situation and, where possible, delivered locally. Only through much closer partnership working will we achieve this.
