Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group, who are responsible for commissioning healthcare services in Solihull, are holding a wellbeing event for older people to help them stay steady on their feet.
If you are over 65, and feel a little unsteady on your feet and / or have concerns about balance and mobility the Keep Safe and Stay Well event will benefit you. The event will take place on Friday 21 October from 2pm to 4pm in the Solihull United Reformed Church in Solihull where you can find out about services for older people available across Solihull to support your health and wellbeing to help you stay safe and independent at home.
The event will provide an opportunity for individuals to increase their strength and balance and thus reduce their falls risk. The event will be focusing on self-care and prevention, so as well as finding out about how Solihull CCG and its partners can help, there will be a chance to get some top tips on how people can look after themselves and their family.
A few highlights include:
There will talks and stalls from Age UK, NHS team, Solihull Community Housing, equipment services and demonstrations of exercises to help with balance and strength. And much more...
Dr. Mike Baker from a local surgery Meadowisde FHC, GPS Healthcare said:
"I think this is a great idea as we need to encourage healthy, active lifestyles, particularly as we get older. Falling can have a really negative impact on people's lives, their confidence and their independence so we are keen to prevent this as much as possible and programmes such as this can help."
