Solihull people are being urged to help their local healthcare commissioner to improve their services.
Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), which designs, plans and funds health services for the people of Solihull, has launched ‘Your Health, Your Voice’ – a campaign to encourage more people to work with the CCG.
As part of this programme, the CCG is calling on residents to become Patient Members. People can choose how closely involved they wish to be; they could join focus groups, contribute to specific projects, find out about events of interest to them, or complete occasional surveys.
Anyone who is a registered patient at one of Solihull CCG’s GP practices can become a Patient Member. To find out more, visit www.solihullccg.nhs.uk/get-involved/yhyv or pick up a leaflet from your GP surgery.
The CCG is also looking for Solihull people to apply for a place on its Patient Voice Panel, to ensure the voice of the community is heard in its decisions. These are voluntary posts for up to two years.
The panel will be made up of patients and representatives from the voluntary sector and Healthwatch Solihull – the independent consumer champion for health and social care in the borough. It will meet for a few hours every other month.
Dr Anand Chitnis, Chair of Solihull CCG and a GP in Castle Bromwich, said: “Our aim is to commission the highest quality care for our patients and the wider community in the Solihull area.
“To improve people’s health and wellbeing, we want to intervene earlier in an illness, or prevent it from happening. To do this, we need patients to tell us which services work well and which ones could be improved.
“I’d urge anyone who is interested in joining either as a Patient Member or on the Patient Voice Panel to get in touch with us as soon as possible. It’s a great opportunity for Solihull people to make a positive difference to their healthcare services.”
Anyone who lives in Solihull or is registered with a Solihull CCG GP can apply to join the Patient Voice Panel. For more information, visit www.solihullccg.nhs.uk/get-involved/yhyv, email email@example.com or call 0121 713 8399. The closing date for applications is Thursday 30 April 2015.
