Solihull health bosses back Urgent Care Centre on hospital site

on .

The leaders of Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) have today underlined their commitment to providing an Urgent Care Centre on the Solihull Hospital site to create a more integrated approach to urgent care in Solihull.

Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) runs Solihull Hospital and its new Chief Executive Andrew Foster met with the Dr Patrick Brooke, Accountable Officer for Solihull CCG on the site which is set to house the planned Urgent Care Centre.

This month the respective governing boards of HEFT and the CCG have both agreed on the location of where this exciting new service will be positioned on the Solihull Hospital site.

This has given the green light for the project to provide a ‘one-stop shop’ for all urgent care services in Solihull to become a reality and Andrew Foster said he was ‘delighted’ to reaffirm the Trust’s commitment.

He said: “I am delighted to stand here with Patrick and underline the Trust’s commitment to working with Solihull CCG to provide a top class Urgent Care Centre on the Solihull Hospital site.

“It has been a complex process which unfortunately has created some delays but it is vital that we make sure the centre will be in the best location for patients, large enough for future expansion, and link effectively with other services, and we now firmly believe that the conclusion of housing the Urgent Care Centre in this area of Solihull Hospital is the right decision.

“It is the most suitable location to make the Urgent Care Centre easily accessible to the public and will enable work to be completed in a timely and efficient manner. Currently services are seen as rather fragmented and can cause confusion for patients.  It is now full steam ahead with this exciting project to create a ‘one roof, one front door’ service that can transform the way urgent care services work in Solihull for the better.

“I would like to thank Solihull CCG for its close collaboration and support during this process and we look forward to working together in the future to produce a service that the people of Solihull can be proud of.”

Dr Patrick Brooke said:

"We are delighted that we have now agreed the location of the Urgent Care Centre within the hospital and are looking forward to working with Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust to bring this to fruition.

“The proposed Urgent Care Centre will offer a more sustainable, integrated and effective urgent care service which is in line with best practice and national policy.  This will ensure that Solihull Hospital is well positioned to be at the heart of the health community for the people of Solihull."
